针对《贝奥武夫》这部经典英国长篇史诗中大量运用的古日耳曼诗歌语言、令现代读者晦涩难懂的事实。爱尔兰诗人希尼通过借鉴阐释学翻译理论,尤其是斯坦纳"四步法",成功地将古诗译成现代英语诗体形式,其翻译攻略值得解读。
Beowulf is a classical British epic.By reason of great amount of Germanic poetic language of the ancient time,Beowulf is hard to understand for modern readers.With the help of western theories of hermeneutics and especially George Steiner’four-step approach,Heaney,an Irish poet,has successfully translated the epic into current English prosody,while the translation strategies adopted deserves detailed analysis.
