信息技术的发展逐步延伸到医疗领域，患者信息的记录与保存一直是纸质病历使用至今的价值所在，电子信息技术为患者建立电子档案提供了技术支持，从而弥补了纸质病历上的诸多不足。建立健全患者的电子病历系统，是目前医疗信息化发展中重要的组成部分。
