From the view of the narrative skill of the American writer,Henry James,Isabelle＇s psychological world,the heroine in ＂The Portrait of a Lady＂,is analyzed.It is proposed that the psychological description is a pioneer skill in literature.It is different from the stereotypical skill at the beginning period of realism.The complicated psychological world makes a vivid Isabelle.James,with the skill of inner focus,presented a three-dimensional portrait,in which the heroine has a controversial psychological world.
