批评视角下的隐喻研究

Critical Perspective into Metaphor Research

通过探讨西方修辞学与认知语言学中隐喻研究的结合点——即对隐喻背后的权力和意识形态的关注,试图提供一个西方修辞学视角下对隐喻的批评性解读。从修辞与权力的共生关系出发,以辞格与修辞的关系为依托,聚焦隐喻所蕴涵的评价功能、隐喻的遮蔽作用以及隐喻所体现的权力建构,指出隐喻的分析必须和特定语境下说话人的修辞动机联系起来,隐喻的建构既要受到意识形态和社会权力的引导和制约,同时也进一步强化了现有意识形态和社会权力结构。

The consideration of the power and ideological dimensions behind the use of metaphor serves as the nexus between the current research paradigm of metaphor in cognitive linguistics and western rhetoric.An attempt is therefore made to provide a critical interpretation of metaphor from a western rhetorical perspective.Proceeding from the symbiotic relations between rhetoric and power and basd on the relations between figures of speech and rhetoric,this article analyses the evaluative and mystifying functions of metaphor and power framework metaphors embody.It is pointed out that the analysis of metaphor must include a close stydy of speaker＇s rhetorical motive in particular context and that the framework of metaphor is guided and constrained by ideology and social power and,simultaneously the use of metaphor further strengthens the existing ideology and social power structure.
