The properties,classifications and preparation methods of biosurfactants were introduced briefly.The applications of biosurfactants in various fields such as petroleum exploit,preparation of medicals,cosmetics,food products as well as in agriculture and environmental protection were reviewed.Biosurfactants would become an important trend of the development of green surfactants to substitute the conventional chemical surfactants.The prospect and current main problem in the development of biosurfactants were put forward.
