从六朝志怪的粗陈梗概发展到唐人小说的文辞华艳,不难找到竹林寺传说幻想奇特、情节优美的影响。另外,竹林寺传说对道教仙话小说影响颇深。这既有情节构件的置换:竹林圣僧演变成壁画圣僧,再进一步演变为壁画神仙;又有细节幻构的传承:竹林寺传说中飞龙行舟的细节,被仙话小说积极采用。

Zhulin temple legends have beautiful, fantasy plot, its literary value is comparable to most of the novels in Tang Dynasty. In addition, Zhulin temple legends have big influences on Taoist fairy novels. There are plot component replacement: bamboo holy man evolves into mural holy man; there are also inheritance of details: the details of dragon boat in Zhulin temple legends are actively used in the immortal novels.
