The classification of higher education put forward by Professor Pan Maoyuan divides the higher education system into the general-higher-education subsystem and the higher-vocational-education subsystem,and divides HEIs into three types： disciplinary-based,profession-based and vocational-based.The classification meets the requirement of the reality of China higher education and would have a great significance to direct the accurate-orientation and classified-development of HEIs.
