The Influences of Modern Chinese Translated Literature on the Creation of Native Novels

中国近代史上,在外有列强侵略、内有腐败政府的历史背景下,一批有识之士译介了大量的外国文学作品,欲以文学开启民智,达到救国济民的目的。译介作品数量之丰、规模之大达到了历史上文学译介之顶峰。这些外国文学译本,对中国文学,尤其是小说创作产生了深远的影响:拓展了小说家的思想、丰富了小说类型、改革了小说语言、改变了传统小说的艺术创作方法。

With foreign invasion and a corrupt government, people of insight in modern China translated a lot of foreign literature. They intended to save the country by the instruction of literature. Therefore, different kinds of literature were translated and the quantity reached a peak. The large number of translated literature had great influences on the creation of Chinese literature, especially novels. The influences are mainly reflected in four aspects, namely, the expansion of novelists ＇ vision, the enrichment of novel types, innovation of novel language and the change of artistic techniques.
