Unity of Consciousness and Problem of the Self

现象学的分析表明,在我们的意识当中确实存在着自我意识。也就是说,任何意识都伴随着一种第一人称的被给予性,自身意识就存在于这种被给予性中,而非存在于意识流的连续性和统一性中。自身意识具有反身性,也即,可以在反思意识中被主题化。但是,这种自身意识并不是对"自身"的意识,它并没有承诺一个本体论意义上的自我的存在。

Phenominological analysis suggests that in our conciousness there is definitely self-conciousness,namely,any conciousness is accompanied by a first person givenness,in which,rather than continuity or unity of stream-of-consciousness,self-conciousness find itself.Self-conciousness is reflexive,that is to say,it can be topic-oriented in reflective conciousness.Self-conciousness,however,is by no means conciousness of Self,it does not guarantee existence of Ego in an ontological sense.
