在新世纪到来之前，水文地质和环境地质面临新的机遇和挑战，第３０届国际地质大会论文中文汇编介绍了可供借鉴的系统经验，国土资源强化管理为水文地质和环境地质勘察研究成果的直接应用提供了场所。本文作者根据国内外的新形势，强调论述城市地质和地质生态等问题研究的重要性。

Before the coming of the 21 st century,hydrogeology and environmental geology are facing new opportunity and challenge.Publication of “Proceedings of the 20 th IGC (Chinese version)”provides systematic experiences for consideration.Enhanced management of territorial resources provides ground for direct utilization of results of hydrogeological and environmental geological investigation and research.Based on above mentioned points,author of this paper emphasizes importance of urban geology and geo ecology studies.
