The PipeWIZARD system is a fully automated phased array ultrasonic testing system(AUT) designed for large diameter girth welds.On the basis of its scan functions and integration of A scan,B scan and TOFD techniques,this paper illustrates the features of defects such as interlayer unfusion and pores shown in the actual test figures,as well as their evaluation methods and skills,which can solve the ambiguities of defect discrimination in AUT and improve testing accuracy.The above-mentioned approach plays an active role in correct evaluation of welding quality.
