The paper introduces the contents of safety monitoring design during construction period for water conveyance tunnel of Dahuofang reservoir,which includes design basis and principle,monitoring instruments layout,technical requirements,and so on.Based on the monitoring data,the construction safety situation could be predicted,the tunnel security and stability situation could be mastered and the structure deformation and stress characteristics of first support could be studied,which could provide scientific basis to simplify the construction process,speed up the construction schedule and reduce the project investment.
