摘要
本文对英汉翻译中的"望文生义"和"张冠李戴"这两种常见问题做了探讨。文章指出,"望文生义"是翻译过程中普遍存在的通病,即便是翻译行家里手亦不例外。"张冠李戴"则有无意有意之分。前者为翻译失误,后者为译者为消除不同语言文化障碍所采用的创造性变通翻译手法。文章批评了一些公开出版发行的参考译文中的"望文生义"和"张冠李戴"现象,并结合翻译课堂教学实践,对上述问题作了分析验证。
This paper examines superficial resemblance and misnomer in English-Chinese translation and their causes.Examples and analyses show that while the former is a typical translation failure,the latter,misnomer,sometimes may serve as an efficient means to bridge the gap between two different languages.
