Kirghizstan has been in the grip of political unrest ever since the outbreak of the 'Color Revolution' in 2005.The problems can possibly be traced to a number of causes, ranging from a povertystricken economy,to rampant corruptions as a result of autocratic rule by people in power and their clans, leading to frequent change of government and intensified ethnic conflicts.Right now,a parliamentary system that will defuse power has been chosen by a referendum. The new regime also has to face up with a series of thorny issues, such as how to heal a rift between the south and the north that seems to be irreconcilable, how to live in the shadow of the U.S.and Russia,How to ensure that political mechanism of the country is operating normally, and how to end wrestles between the new and the old regimes, and within a new faction-ridden regime.
