哲学性格与大学文化

Philosophical Characteristics and University Culture

哲学性格表现为:自足性、自反性、绝对性、无限性、批判性、艺术性和超俗性。哲学是大学的文化之源。从巴黎大学、哈勒大学、柏林大学到哈佛大学、加州理工学院、芝加哥大学,从阿伯拉尔、托马西乌斯、洪堡到艾略特、杜威、哈伯,事实证明大学与哲学有着必然的渊源,哲学的性格体现于大学的各个方面,哲学对于大学必不可少。具有哲学性格的大学,才可能是具有大学性格的大学,具有自己民族性格的大学。对于大学本应有的哲学性格,中国的大学哲学性格应在"自由与独立"的前提下生成。

The characteristics of philosophy include self-sufficiency,self-reflectivity,Absoluteness,infinity,critiqueness,artisticity and transcendence Philosophy is the cultural origin of universities.Evidences drawn from the University of Paris,Hallam University,University of Berlin in the Europe,to Harvard University,California Institute of Technology,the University of Chicago in the US,from Abelard,Thomasius,Humboldt to Eliot,Dewey and Haber,all have proved the undeniable affinity between philosophy and universities.Philosophical characteristics are embodied in almost every aspect of universities,as the former is an intrinsic and indispensable part of the latter.Only those universities with philosophical characteristics could be regarded as the truly universal universities,representing their national features at the same time.To foster the philosophical characteristics of universities in China,'freedom and independence' should be the precondition and prerequisite.
