欧洲城市的潜力隐藏于高品质的城市空间和使用的多样性。尽管人们居住在区域性的空间维度,但是城市中心作为象征性中心的特殊意义不会遗失。相反,随着零售业功能的削弱,近些年,城市中心已经更多地演化为休闲场所。当前城市发展的要点,既要保持这一潜力,还要持续加以开发。欧洲城市一直在市场与规划的相互较量中发展,并建立起一种平衡关系,今后仍将如此。本文将要讨论的是,城市中心的未来发展机遇。

A vivid mix of functions and a high quality of urban spaces are counted among the most important potentials of the European city.Despite the regional context of the present urban development inner cities are still regarded as the＂heart＂of a town.On the one hand they have lost their function as main places of commerce but on the other hand they have gained attractiveness as places for spare time activities.Opportunities for the future urban development of inner cities are the subject of this paper at hand.
