Cooperative Principle proposed by Grice and Politeness Principle put forward by Leech, as two important components of pragmatics, are＇of great value in guiding our communication. This thesis, starting from the features of business letters, analyzes and discusses the guiding effect of Cooperative Principle and Politeness Principle in business letter writing.
