The Impact of Wage on Economic Growth:A Review of Literature

在全球金融危机引发出口导向型经济增长方式面临困境的背景下,中国提出转变经济增长方式,通过扩大内需刺激经济增长,所有刺激内需的手段都涉及提高工资水平。因此,重视工资对经济增长的作用并对相关文献进行回顾,具有重要意义。本文从一般意义上的工资、效率工资和最低工资对经济增长的影响三个方面对国内外相关文献进行评述。结果表明:一方面,经济增长水平决定各类工资水平的高低;另一方面,工资并不只是简单地被经济增长决定,工资水平的高低本身也对经济增长具有重要影响。进一步的工作是从理论角度研究工资对经济增长的作用机理,从实证角度检验各类工资对经济增长的作用效果。

Global financial crisis has put export - led growth pattern into difficult situation. China proposed to shift the growth method to the domestic - led method. Stimulation domestic demand requires the increase of income levels, hence it is essential to investigate the effect of income level changes on economic growth and review related literatures. This article reviews related literatures from three aspects： the impact of general sense of wage on economic growth, the influence of efficiency wage and minimum wage on economic growth. The results show that the level of economic growth determines wage level of one hand ,wage isn＇t decided simply of the other, and it can influence economic growth in turn. The future work is to study the function mechanism of wage on economy in theory, and test the effect of all kinds of wage on economy by empirical analysis.
