There happened a number of different catastrophic events for stars to evolve from its formation to final fate, among which the most violent one is the supernova explosion. A star that was, long ago or recently, born in an interstellar nebula has been evolving, from young to old, and may be ended with a supernova explosion, from which a huge amount of energy will be instantly released, and a white dwarf, neutron star or black hole can be produced, depending upon its mass.
