Objective To analyze the levels of serum glucose ( Glu) ,lipid and glycosylated low density lipoprotein ( G-LDL) in patients with diabetes mellitus, and investigate the correlation between G-LDL in patients with diabetes mellitus and coronary heart disease( CHD). Methods The samples of fasting serum were collected from 80 patients with diabetes mellitus and 80 healthy controls. The levels of G-LDL,Glu,triglyceride ( TG) ,cholesterol( Chol) ,high density lipoprotein cholesterol ( HDL-C) ,low density lipoprotein cholesterol ( LDL-C) ,apoprotein A-Ⅰ ( apoA-Ⅰ) and apoprotein B100 ( apo B100) were detected. The levels of glycosylated hemoglobin ( HbA1c) in patients with diabetes mellitus were detected. Results There was no difference in the levels of LDL-C and apo B100 between the patients with diabetes mellitus and the healthy controls ( P〉0. 05). G-LDL,Glu,TG and Chol were significantly higher than those of healthy controls( P〈0. 05). HDL-C and apo A-Ⅰ in patients with diabetes mellitus were significantly lower than those in controls ( P〈0. 05). The level of G-LDL in patients with diabetes mellitus was relevant with the level of Glu( r = 0. 636,P〈0. 05) ,and there was no relevance with LDL-C and HbA1c ( r = 0. 331,r = 0. 327,P〉0. 05). Conclusions The level of G-LDL increases significantly in patients with diabetes mellitus. Glycosylated lipid is a risk factor of CHD in patients with diabetes mellitus. G-LDL may become a biochemical marker of CHD in patients with diabetes mellitus.
