Culture Introduction in English Teaching

语言是文化的载体,是文化的主要表现形式。不同民族有着不同的文化、历史、风俗习惯和风土人情等,各民族的文化和社会风俗又都在该民族的语言中表现出来。语言离不开文化,文化依靠语言,英语教学是语言教学,当然离不开文化教育。现代外语教学强调培养学生的交际能力。越来越多的教师认识到文化在语言学习中有不可低枯的作用,接触和了解英语国家的文化,有益于英语的理解和运用。

Different nation has different language and culture.No matter how complex the concepts of culture and language are,there is one thing that is clear.Language and culture are inseparably interwoven.The intertwined relationship between language and culture has a twofold sense.On one hand,language,as a system of symbols for human communication and cultural transmission,is a carrier of culture.On the other hand,language is influenced and shaped by culture.Now,with regard to the teaching of foreign culture in language,Chinese educators begin to realize the importance of culture teaching.Because it can not only help the learners develop cultural awareness,but also reduce ethnocentrism,and raise their intercultural competence.
