摘要
希罗多德被称为西方"史学之祖",其《历史》被认为是西方第一部历史学著作。书中的内容丰赡斑斓,多姿多彩,向我们展现了不同于成熟的希腊城邦时期西方早期民主的景观和发展迹象:对专制深恶痛绝,民主观念兴起;民意构成了合法性的重要来源;政体成为民主观念的载体。这些对我们今天探究西方的民主源流具有重要的意义和参考价值。
Herodotus is known as the ancestor of western historical science,and his History is considered the first historical book in western society.The content of it appears rich and colorful,which shows us a picture of early age of western democracy and the signs of its development which is different from the mature period of the Greek city-state：because of abhorrence of dicta torship,the people＇s idea of democracy arises;the crowds＇opinion constitutes the important source of legitimacy;the form of gov ernment becomes a vehicle of concept of democracy.These will provide significant reference value forus to explore the origins of western democracy and be of importance.
