Walt Whitman believes that everything in nature reflects divinity, which contributes to the formation of his pantheistic outlook on nature. Divine nature endows Whitman’s pantheistic outlook on nature with complex and rich meanings. On the one hand, Whitman’s view of nature is cast with a scent of mysticism which embodies his cosmic awareness of his deep contemplations over life and death. On the other hand, his direct description of natural scenery shows his simple appreciation of pure beauty in nature, which unfolds the aesthetic significations in his pantheistic outlook on nature.
