徐复观对历代有关孔子"天命"的解释做了仔细地梳理和评价,从中可略窥徐复观对中国古代哲学经典阐释的路径和独有的方法,这种路径既不同于清人考证式的研究,又不同于"五四"时期熊十力等学者的研究路径,他对以上二者尤其是以西方形而上学来解析儒家的方法提出了批评,在此基础上提出应回到原典本身尊重中国哲学特质的思想,徐复观认为应以"体验"的方法与"敬"的态度来面对中国传统哲学经典,而体现出探索我们自己民族传统哲学经典解读与研究方法的努力。
