分析人识别牌照过程的基础上提出了智能性的多层次分割算法来定位车牌照。它的基本思想是多层次分割，每次分割时尽量减少分析的范围，其中用到了梯度差分和指数平滑方法，整个算法简单快速，可用硬件实时处理。

An intelligent multi-gradation algorithm for segmentation of vehicle number plate is presented in this paper.The method based on plate recognizing course analyzed by man. The main idea is that the multi-gradation segmentation is adapted,the analysis rang is diminished,grade difference and exponent smoothness method is also been used. The character of this algorithm is simple,fast and can be performed by certain hardware for real-time processing.
