Excavation of the Western Xiaotun Tombs of the Spring and Autumn Period in Xigong Area in Luoyang

1991年11月～1992年1月,洛阳市文物工作队配合基础建设,在洛阳西工区西小屯东周王城遗址内清理发掘了一批古代墓葬,其中两座墓葬(C1M3498、C1M3427)出土了大量铜器、骨器、玉石器等器物。从墓葬形制和出土器物来看,这两座墓葬的规格较高,年代应属春秋时期,为东周王城春秋时期的城市布局和墓葬分布提供了新的研究资料。

From November of 1991 to January of 1992, archaeologists excavated a group of ancient tombs in the course of construction work on the capital city site of the Eastern Zhou in Western Xiaotun in the Xigong area of Luoyang City. Two of the tombs, C1M3498 and C1M3427, yielded a large number of artifacts, in- cluding bronzes, jades, stone or bone objects, and so on. Judging by the funerary objects and the structural features of these two tombs, they were built in the Spring and Autumn Period, and belonged to people of high rank. The excavation provides new information for the study of the urban layout and the arrangement of tombs in the capital city site of the Eastern Zhou during the Spring and Autumn Period.
