A Tribute to Professor Wang Cheng-xu on His 100th Birthday

A scholar with impeccable credentials and rich experience in both China and Europe, Professor Wang Cheng-xu was prepared to dedicate himself to the task of laying a solid foundation for the field of compara- tive education through an extensive and visionary project of translation, combined with the writing of basic texts in the field. In all of these endeavours, he involved graduate students and formed a whole generation of excellent younger scholars and leaders. He also engaged in extensive and sustained projects of international cooperation and exchange with universities in England and North America. Professor Wang＇s remarkable life of scholarship played the unique and important role in building bridges between different historical time periods, different civilizations, different nations and different conceptions of the field of education and comparative education.
