总部位于英国的MGT公司成立于1947年,旗下阿维德工厂主要致力于设计和制造销售航空、航海、能源领域使用的流量计、控制阀、联结器等工业产品,是该类产品的全球知名品牌。本案例以2007年年底MGT公司旗下阿维德工厂准备从英国向中国厦门工厂转移的实际项目为背景,接手该项目的MGT控制系统事业部运营副总监凯文和MGT公司厦门工厂总经理李健,正面临着工厂在跨国转移过程中供应链重构的战略规划、运营层面上的实施策略等问题。在国际化浪潮的席卷之下,跨国企业已经能将其触角延伸到世界的每一个角落。无论是出于成本考虑,还是出于满足新兴市场发展考虑,将现有成熟产品的生产线乃至整个工厂转移到别国,是许多跨国公司国际化战略实施的重要步骤。
MGT Group is headquartered in the UK and established in 1947,its Avery factory is a well-known global engineering group specializing in extreme environment components and smart sub-systems for aerospace,defense and energy markets. At the end of 2007,MGT decided that the Avery factory in UK would be relocated to Xiamen,China. There are two key persons for this relocation project:Kevin,who was the vice chief operations officer of MGT Control Systems Division,and JianLi,who was the general manager of MGT Xiamen Factory.They were facing a series of problems about the strategy and operation management on supply chain reconstruction during this factory relocation.To lower the cost,or to develop the new market,it becomes enterprise's key step for globalization to relocate a production line or a whole factory globally.
