Description of a Struggle is the earliest extant short story of Kafka and practically contains all the ideas and characteristic features guiding his later creations.In the story,Kafka looks into the distant China,paints a panorama of the country,and ultimately goes beyond the boundary between the east and the west to meditate on some problems present in both the East and the West.It is definitely beyond doubt that China,from the very beginning,has provided him with the opportunities and possibilities to enjoy the freedom of writing and creation and to obtain spiritual liberation.
