摘要
深厚的学术功底,尤其是强烈的现实精神,是萧一山违背“为学问而学问”的学界潮流,高扬“经世”旗帜的主要原因。在理论上,他赋予传统现代意义,使“经世学”变成一种可以涵盖政治、经济、历史、哲学等各种分支学科,并处于指导地位的学问。在实践上,他所涉及的各个领域——从文献考释、清史著述,到传统文化研究——经世精神都有清晰地体现。可以说,萧氏学术是一个在“经世”精神推动下,从故纸堆逐步走向现实的完整体系,以“经世之学”称之是恰如其分的。
Firm academic foundation, especially the extensive concerning of reality, was the main cause why Xiao Yishan dared to depart from the academic current and advocated jingshi, or serving the society. In theory, he endowed tradition with modern sense, turned the jingshixue into a subject that includs politics, economy, history, philosophy and many other branches. In practice, from his annotation of the ancient texts, works of the Qing Dynasty, to the researches of traditional culture, all these efforts distinctly reflected his concerning about reality. Generally speaking, his learning formed a complete system beginning from ancient documents and ending up with reality, in which the wishes of serving society was the main drive. Therefore fingshixue was an appropriate name for Xiao's academie system.
