According to a plan by the National Energy Bureau, the Chinese government is planning to invest RMB 5 trillion （USD 735 billion） to further develop several cleantech and alternative energy sectors. Some experts predict the total sum could reach as high as tens of trillions of RMB if the impact on related industries is taken into account. The investment plan includes development of solar, wind and nuclear power, and is subject to approval by the State Council.
