Politics on the Feet:An Research on the Novel of Abolishing Women’s Feet Binding with Bandages in the late Qing Dynasty

晚清废缠足运动是20世纪中国女性解放的初步尝试,也是女性身体解放的起点。与这一时代思潮相呼应,一批以此为题材的小说应运而生,记录了废缠足运动的曲折历程,为我们了解女性身体与时代政治之间的关系提供了重要的文本依据。

The movement of abolishing women’s feet-binding with bandages in the late Qing Dynasty was not only the preliminary attempt of Chinese female emancipation in 20th century,but also the threshold of female’s body emancipation.Echoing to the thread of thought of this era,a group of novels based on it are produced,recording the tortuous process of this movement and providing important textual foundation for us to comprehend the relation between female body and era politics.
