Basic Research Workforce Analysis and Prospect Based on the Doctorates Awarding in the United States

本文基于2007—2008年度美国博士学位授予情况调研报告,从美国博士学位授予概况、学科分布、性别比例、种族情况、国籍分布等特点出发,分析了博士学位授予情况对基础研究队伍的影响,探讨了在基础研究人才培养中应注意的几个问题。

Based on the results of the 2008 Survey of Earned Doctorates in U.S. and the data released in the Doctorate Recipients from U.S. Universities： Summary Report 2007—2008,the trends of doctorate awarding in the United States were discussed in the views of academic fields,sex,race/ethnicity,and citizenship. The impact of doctorate awarding on basic research workforce was analyzed. Some concerns and suggestions on fostering young talents in basic research were also presented in this paper.
