Design and optimization of a beam flattening filter using the BEAM code

摘要 均整器是X射线模式下医用加速器治疗头中的重要部件,并且通常使用Monte Carlo方法进行设计。设计均整器需要的数据精度较高,模拟时间较长;且需反复修正,使得整体设计的时间会很长。该文在3个方面总结了实际使用BEAM程序的经验和技巧:在Windows操作系统下采用批处理运行程序的方式增加计算机工作效率;利用合并对称网格技巧减小计算结果的方差;通过理论模型快速设计均整器轮廓。这些技巧使得均整器设计时间大大缩短,提高了工作效率。 The beam flattening filter plays an important role in the medical head of an X-ray mode medical accelerator.Monte Carlo methods have always been used in simulations to design beam flattening filters.Such designs require very precise results and are altered many times.Thus,the simulations and designs take a long time.This article summarizes experience with simulations using the BEAM code using batch processing to improve the computational efficiency in Windows OS and symmetric grids to reduce the simulation errors.A theoretical model is then developed to design the profile of a beam flattening filter.These methods will greatly shorten the simulation times and improve the overall design efficiency.
