国家自然科学基金重大项目“禽流感关键基础科学问题研究”结题综述

REVIEW OF THE ACHIEVEMENTS OF NSFC MAJOR PROGRAM:ESSENTIAL BASIC SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH OF AVIAN INFLUENZA

针对禽流感频繁发生和人感染禽流感新发病例不断出现,国家自然科学基金委员会组织专家论证,经过立项、公开申请、项目初评、答辩和委务会审议,紧急启动了重大项目"禽流感关键基础科学问题研究"。历经4年研究,项目在禽流感病毒分子流行病学、病毒蛋白结构与功能、感染机制与免疫应答、禽流感病毒感染人的特点与传播途径等方面都取得了原创性的成果,圆满完成了计划任务。通过项目的实施,课题组形成了具有国际竞争力的团队,开展了与国内外同行的广泛交流与合作,多次组织相关国际会议,引起了国内外同行的关注。在北京举行的结题验收会上,项目受到专家组的好评,获得了特优的综合评价。

Based on the situation of increasing frequency of avian influenza and newly emerging human cases of infection with avian influenza virus, the NSFC emergently organized and launched the major program ＂Essential Basic Scientific Research of Avian Influenza＂. The whole procedure consisted of experts argumentation, projecting, open application, preliminary evaluation, the defense and deliberation of the commission services, which totally accorded with the related rules of the NSFC. After four years of research, the program has made important original achievements in several aspects including the molecular epidemiology of avian influenza virus, viral protein structure and function, infection mechanisms and immune response, characteristics of human infection with avian influenza virus, routes of transmission and so on. The research tasks were completed successfully. During the implementation period, the research group carried out a wide range of academic exchanges and cooperations with domestic and foreign peers and successfully organized several relevant international conferences. Through the program implementation, the project group has developed into a team with internationally competitive power and gained great attentions from the domestic and foreign counterparts. In the finished project meeting held in Beijing, the achievements presented in the final report had good appraise from the evaluation expert group and were evaluated as A in the comprehensive evaluation.
