本文探讨了SGML的产生背景、目标和基本结构，尤其是标记系统和核心部件DTD的构建，提出了SGML文献的转换示意图，并简介了它的相关应用。
The paper discusses the background, objectives, and basic structures of SGML,including its markup system and the core part, DTD, and also presents the conversion scheme of SGML. At the end, it gives some applications examples with SGML.
