In 1983 the book entitled Tibet Transformation,written by Israel Epstein,illustrated the author’s three interviews in Tibet.He concluded that there were three generations of Tibetan cadres:red- army soldier in the long march,cadres from 1950 to 1951 and cadres thereafter.Mr.Zheng Ying is categorized as the second generation.The author of this book gave readers a unique description of Zheng Ying by writing:"He is tall with a dark countenance and behaves discreetly.""When he was 17, in 1950,he joined the People’s Liberation Army(PLA)and later followed the march by the military force into Tibet.In 1953,he transferred from the military to the Working Committee of the Communist
