Figure-ground segregation theory in cognitive poetics emphatically focuses on the prominence of principle.In this article,the writer attempts to interpret a poem Night written by the American expressionist artist Max Webber from a perspective of it.The objective of the article is to investigate how the figure in the poem is constructed,aiming to show that the construction of the thematic figure is both semantically and phonetically identical.
