A Brief Discussion of Medieval European Cities' Democracy

文艺复兴以来对中世纪的误读使得大众对这长达千年的历史阶段懵然不知。本文从对中世纪城市的研究入手,讨论了中世纪民主产生的背景,阐述了在中世纪市民阶级力量、行会经济的发展中,城市社会上承希腊罗马人文精华,下接文艺复兴历史重任,继承西方民主传统并且发扬光大的历史进程。

The misunderstanding of the Middle Ages since the Renaissance leads to people＇s ignorance of such a long period of a millennium.Based on the study of the medieval cities,this article is designed to discuss the birth background and the development of the medieval democracy and expounds the historical process of this long period of time in which the humane essence from Greeks and Romans was inherited,the Renaissance was ignited and the western democratic tradition was passed on and brought to a great height,along with the increase of city people＇s power and the development of the guilds.
