文廷式半联“半窗明月墨花香”考辨

Research on the Weng Tingshi's Single Couplet——"Half Window of Moon with Ink Scent"

"半窗明月墨花香"以"上联"之拟收入《文廷式集.联语》,其"下联"是缺,有待寻获补全。这一客观存在已获补正:其一,此联视为"上联"(出句)欠妥,句中所系韵脚"香"字,属平声,当为下联,所缺联为上联,待寻。其二,所缺上联,与近日从网上查到清乾隆《四库全书》总裁曹秀先手撰"一榻清风书叶舞,半窗明月墨花香"相合。所缺文氏之上联既可以此订定;亦可俟再访,得其更佳上联。

＂Half Window of Moon with Ink Scent＂ is included in Collections of Weng Tingshi—Couplets as ＂the first line of a couplet＂. The corresponding second line is still in vacant,waiting to be supplied. Now it has been supplied：firstly,the fact that it is regarded as ＂the first line＂ is improper,for the last word ＂xiang＂ in the line has the intonation of ＂level tone＂ ,which should be ＂the second line＂ ,therefore,it should be ＂the second line＂ ,the vacant line is the ＂first line＂ ,waiting to be supplied; secondly,the vacant ＂first line＂ is coincidence with ＂One Bed of Wind with the Book Pages Dancing,Half Window of Moon with Ink Scent＂ from Complete Library in the Four Branches of Literature chief-edited by Cao Xiuxian in Qianlong Period,and surfed from websites. Thus,the vacant Weng＇s first line can be supplied by this one or be matched with a better one in the future.
