After India became independent, the country took nonalignment as its basic diplomatic principle to meet the demands of domestic and international situations,to preserve regional and global peace, and to ensure its highest diplomatic goal of state security. After the Korean War broke out,India,a neutral country, was active in the diplomatic offices to prevent the escalation of the war. Its efforts had been of positive role in the cessation the Korean War.Moreover,India's activities during the War had improved its influences in Asian and African countries and nonalignment had been generally accepted by these countries, which had influenced the diplomatic policy of India in 1950s.However,India did not become completely "neutral" for it was obliged to yield to the pressure of the US over some issues.
