中国《政府工作报告》英译本词汇特征——基于语料库的研究

Lexical Features in the English Translation of Report on the Work of the Government——A Corpus-based Study

以中国《政府工作报告》英文译文和美国《国情咨文》为语料,以语料库语言学方法对两个语料库中的词汇特征进行了对比分析。研究结果表明,这两个在功能上相同的文本在词汇特征上存在差异。分析了差异产生的原因,并探讨了《政府工作报告》在词汇方面的翻译是否符合英语本族语者使用习惯并被他们所接受。还根据研究结果对今后《政府工作报告》的翻译提出了建议。

This paper compares the lexical features of the English translated versions of the Reports on the Work of the Government （RWGs） with those of State of the Union addresses of the United States in a corpus-based way. The results show that there are differences between these two functionally similar texts in this respect. The paper analyzes the possible reasons leading to the differences and explores the acceptability of the English version of RWGs by native English speakers with respect to lexis. The paper also puts forward some suggestions for the translation of RWGs in the future.
