Brief Study of Li Hong-zhang Family

合肥李鸿章家族以慎所公为许改李姓之始祖,繁衍生息数百年,至今已有第十四世传人。从李文安(李鸿章父)举进士入宦开始发迹,至李鸿章兄弟尤其是李鸿章的统军爵相而达到鼎盛。其宗风之醇,人材之萃,家业之隆,门第之荣,堪称"晚清豪门"、"江淮巨族"。

Hefei Li Hong-zhang family which has descended to the fourteenth generation,can be traced back to Mr.Li Shen-suo who altered his surname from Xu to Li.Their family fame and fortune began with Li Wen-an,Li Hong-zhang＇s father,who entered the government as a successful candidate in the imperial examinations,reached the height of power and splendor with Li Hong-zhang brothers,especially with Li Hong-zhang who commanded the army and was appointed Prime Minister in later Qing Dynasty.With its high family customary moral standards,talented descendents,great family property and glorious family status,his family can really be regarded as rich and powerful in later Qing Dynasty and a great race in Jianghuai region.
