On the basis of comparing the civil service examination system and the imperial civil examination system, we can find that civil service examination has inherit some characteristics from the imperial civil examination system. They both appeared due to the open and fair election of talents. There are a lot of similarities between them in the character, content and function. We can draw on the experience of the imperial civil examination to improve civil service examination.
