严修与袁世凯家族的友谊

The friendship between Yan Xiu and Yuan Shi-kai clan

袁世凯对严修非常敬重,请严总理直隶学校司。严开拓进取,使直隶教育为各省之冠。清廷新设学部,袁荐严任侍郎。袁任总统,复请严为教育总长。袁氏诸子拜严为师。筹安会起,严进行了忠告。袁世凯死后,严与袁家仍长期保持友好往来。

Yuan Shi-kai had great respect for Yan Xiu,invited him to be the administrator of Zhili Xuewuchu. Yan Xiu made greater efforts,then Zhili ranked first in the whole country for education.In1898,the Qing government set up the Board of Education ,Yan Xiu assumed vice minister due to Yuan＇s recommendment. When Yuan Shi-kai hold the post of president,Yan Xiu was appointed cabinet minister of the Ministry of Education,and became the teacher of Yuan Shi-kai＇s sons.When Prepare Ampere of Meeting was sponsored,Yan Xiu gave them sincere advice. After the death of Yuan Shi-kai,Yan and the Yuan clan still remained friendly contacts.
