The Electronic Program Guide （EPG）, as an important part of DTV system, can provide friendly user interface and is convenient for the user to acquire the program information they want. This paper introduces the key concept and the basic function of the EPG system. Also it describes the network architecture and fore - end system configuration. At last, it describes the use of the EPG descriptor in DTV system.
