在过去的半个世纪里,英美评论界对艾略特的最后一部小说《丹尼尔·德容达》的看法已经悄然发生了变化,对它的评论也已成为西方艾略特研究的一个新热点。对此,国内评论家尚未加以认真关注。对这部长久以来被国人忽略的杰作及其评论进行介绍和梳理,并对这个课题在当前的动态加以分析,将填补国内艾略特研究的空白。

In the past 50 years,Western criticisms concerning Daniel Deronda have undergone great changes,and studies around this novel have become a new focus of George Eliot Scholarship.However,Chinese literary critics are not yet aware of this tendency.A comprehen-sive review of this work and its criticisms will to some extent enrich the studies of George Eliot in China.
