As a type of grammatical phenomenon frequently occurring both orally and in written texts,passive voice plays a significant role in human communication.This paper sets out to analyze this grammatical phenomenon on the basis of interpersonal metafunction,one of the three metafunctions proposed by M.K.Halliday.
