结直肠癌在英国是常见的恶性肿瘤，其早期诊断可以改善患者的存活率。人们对如何提高诊断以及减少误诊的策略研究有着日趋浓厚的兴趣。多数癌症患者最早就诊于社区医疗，这时是发现有诊断价值症状的最佳时机。
