China Studies:Its International Perspectives and Indigenous Significances

摘要 在半个多世纪的历史中,最初导源于西方尤其是美国的"中国研究"经历了诸多观察视角和研究范式的转换,并因为现在越来越迅猛的全球化浪潮和中国社会的巨大转型而获得了前所未有的生命力。一方面,全球化带来的跨界流动和分析问题的国际视野,赋予"中国研究"以主体多元化,并使得不同的研究主体,以及研究主体与行动主体之间有可能通过"视界融合"再造有关中国的新的认知模式;另一方面,中国社会转型的独特性,使得获自"中国研究"的本土经验资料,不仅有可能成为检验既有社会科学理论解释力的试金石,而且也可能成为解决世界其他国家和地区的社会发展问题、提出新理论的学术源泉。由此,"中国研究"的国际视野和本土意义,为催生一种主客体并置的多元范式奠定了基础。 China studies, which originated more than half a century ago from the West, especially the United States, has undergone varied changes in its observation perspectives and research paradigms. It is at present being animated in an unprecedented way by the ever more fierce wave of globalization and the massive transformation of the Chinese society. On one hand, globalization has ushered in transnational mobility for researchers and widened their international horizons. Not only the subjects of China studies are pluralized but also the subjects and objects, namely those social actors under research, may together create a "perspective fusion" and thus a new cognitive model of China. On the other hand, the uniqueness of China's social transformation, makes it possible for indigenous empirical data from China studies to function as a touchstone of the explanatory power of existing theories in social sciences. Meanwhile, from those data may also derive new theories and solutions of social problems that strike other countries and regions in their process of development. In this sense, the international perspectives and indigenous significances of China studies have laid the foundation for a pluralistic paradigm that embodies the juxtaposition of subjects and objects.
